The future of education is changing rapidly. Making sure our kids have the resources and freedom they need to succeed in a rapidly changing environment is Vicki’s top priority for education reform.
“As a home-schooling mother of three children I learned early in our educational experience that each child learned differently and was motivated to learn in different ways. Our current public school educational system is based on a model that is decades old and is in need of reform.
Interestingly, Vermont has been noted as a leader in school choice and has had a voucher system in some towns for almost 150 years. The future of education is moving towards helping each student find the best educational opportunity that best fits their needs, interests, and individual personalities.
Independent, private, public, religious, and home-school, are all options that should be allowed to thrive in our state to meet the needs of individual students. It is a more local approach, empowers families to choose their educational path, and also gives teachers more options to find the teaching environment that they will enjoy and succeed in.
Our teachers and children are the future of our communities, and we need to do all that we can to support educational options that will provide vibrant motivating experiences for our children.”
